Responsibilities & Duties

Assess and diagnose speech, language, and swallowing disorders. Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment results. Implement therapeutic interventions to improve communication skills. Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary. Provide counseling and support to patients and their families. Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other healthcare professionals. Maintain detailed records of patient evaluations, treatment, and progress. Conduct research to advance knowledge in the field of speech and language therapy. Educate patients and their families on coping strategies and techniques. Utilize specialized equipment and technology in therapy sessions. Participate in ongoing professional development and training. Advise on the development of communication skills in educational settings. Speech-Language Pathologist Qualifications & Skills Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology or a related field. Certification from a recognized professional body such as the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). Experience in a clinical or educational setting. Familiarity with a variety of speech and language disorders. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Proficiency in using diagnostic and therapeutic software and tools. Bilingual abilities, particularly in commonly spoken languages in the community. Specialization or advanced training in specific types of communication disorders. Bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders or a related field. State licensure to practice as a Speech-Language Pathologist. Successful completion of supervised clinical fellowship. Knowledge of speech and language development theories and practices. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage time effectively and handle a varied caseload. Empathy and patience when working with patients of all ages. Good organizational skills and attention to detail. Willingness to stay up-to-date with continuing education and advancements in the field.
