Key Responsibilities

Develop Individualized Education Plans (IEPs): Create tailored educational plans that address the unique needs of each student, ensuring they meet their academic and social goals.
Adapt Curriculum: Modify general education lessons to accommodate students with various disabilities, including physical, cognitive, emotional, and learning impairments.
Assess Student Progress: Regularly evaluate and monitor students’ academic and behavioral progress, adjusting teaching strategies as necessary to support their development.
Collaborate with Professionals: Work closely with parents, general education teachers, and other specialists (such as speech therapists and occupational therapists) to provide comprehensive support for students.
Create a Supportive Environment: Foster a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages learning and social interaction among students with diverse needs.

Qualifications

Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field is typically required. Some positions may require a Master’s degree or additional certifications.
Certification: Must hold a valid teaching certificate with a special education endorsement, as required by state regulations.
Experience: Experience working with children with disabilities, either through internships, volunteer work, or previous teaching roles, is highly beneficial.

Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with students, parents, and colleagues.
Patience and Compassion: Ability to remain patient and understanding while working with students who may have challenging behaviors or learning difficulties.
Problem-Solving Skills: Capacity to develop creative solutions to meet the diverse needs of students and overcome educational challenges.
Organizational Skills: Strong organizational abilities to manage multiple IEPs, assessments, and classroom activities effectively.
Pre-K: 8:50 AM – 4:30 PM
Elementary: 8:25 AM – 3:55 PM
Middle School: 7:45 AM – 3:10 PM
High School: 7:15 AM – 2:45 PM
